Gan Mehanathan & Co. is a dynamic and forward-thinking legal practice formed in 2026 through the merger of two distinguished firms — Gan Rao & Chuah and The Chambers of Mehanathan. The firm's foundation is deeply rooted in Malaysia, with a growing presence across the China market.

The merger was driven by a shared vision of offering more innovative and client-centric legal solutions, bringing together over 25 years of combined experience into one cohesive entity. Dato' Ronald Gan is the Founder and Managing Partner of Gan Rao & Chuah, now part of Gan Mehanathan & Co. Based in Melaka, he brings over two decades of legal experience with a strong reputation in dispute resolution and a proven track record advising financial institutions, corporations, and private clients on complex legal matters.

Beyond his legal career, Dato' Ronald is a prominent community leader and cultural advocate. As President of the Persatuan Peranakan Baba Nyonya Malaysia since 2012, he was instrumental in securing the inscription of the Wangkang Ceremony as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage (2020) and the Kebaya as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage (2024). In 2026, the association attained UNESCO Accredited NGO status.

He serves as Chairman of Koperasi Baba Nyonya Melaka Berhad since 2013 and holds appointments on the National Cultural Council, the Melaka State Unity Council, and the National Multiracial Language and Literature Council.

Thilagan Mehanathan is the Founding Partner of The Chambers of Mehanathan, bringing a deep passion for the law and a steadfast commitment to serving clients with clarity and care. He began his legal career under the distinguished guidance of Tan Sri Dato' Sri Mohamed Shafee bin Abdullah at Messrs. Shafee & Co., gaining invaluable exposure to high-profile litigation and high-stakes advisory work.

Thilagan served as a member of the Malaysian Bar National Young Lawyers and Pupils Committee and the Malaysian Bar Human Rights Committee (2021–2022). He also served as Ahli Dewan Muda Johor (2021–2023), appointed by the Menteri Besar of Johor, working on policies related to youth development.

Known for his reliability, intellectual curiosity, and enthusiasm, Thilagan balances a team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently, delivering impactful legal solutions central to the firm's character.

Ahmad Mukhdzamir bin Maha is a Legal Associate at Gan Mehanathan & Co., Melaka. He has a strong interest in the practice of law and is committed to providing practical and effective legal solutions to clients.

Mukhdzamir commenced his legal career as a pupil in chambers at Messrs Abdul Raman Saad & Associates under the mentorship of Puan Balkis Ya'akup, where he was mainly involved in civil litigation matters. Throughout his pupillage, he gained exposure to a wide range of litigation work, including drafting cause papers, conducting legal research, and attending case managements, hearings and trials. These experiences have provided him with a solid foundation in litigation practice. Mukhdzamir was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 22 July 2026 at the High Court of Melaka.

Alongside his legal practice, Mukhdzamir is currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi. His research focuses on Clinical Legal Education, with particular emphasis on strengthening practical legal training for law students and examining its role in improving access to justice especially amongst the vulnerable through clinical programmes. With both practical litigation experience and ongoing academic pursuits, Mukhdzamir continues to develop his legal knowledge and skills, delivering reliable legal services with a practical and client-oriented approach.
